An article originally published in E-Commerce Times and posted on the website of law Foley & Gardner LLP explains how the US’ new CLOUD (Clarifying Overseas Use of Data) Act “… changed the privacy provisions that were in effect under the 1986 Stored Communications Act.” Among its provisions, this new CLOUD gives law enforcement agencies greater access to digital records. It could, according to the article, have “major implications in the world of e-commerce.”
