1/4/16: It’s been a long time since the Enron corruption scandal made front page news but, according to an article published in the Harvard Law School Forum on Corporate Governance and Financial Regulation, the company’s experience continues to provide lessons for compliance professionals.The article by Michael W. Peregrine from law firm McDermott Will and Emery LLP gives a review of the conditions that set up Enron for its demise. Two outstanding problems – and ones that today’s companies might face, though hopefully to a lesser degree – are failed corporate governance and oversight, corporate accountability.
