Menu11/20/18: Unfortunately, Medicare fraud is a lucrative endeavor for criminals. In response, the federal government created the Medicare Fraud Strike Force, which has been very successful in enforcing laws protecting federal resources and Medicare beneficiaries.
Nearly 4,000 defendants have been charged to date through the work of 14 strike forces operating in 23 districts around the country. One recent case involves an illegal kickback scheme in which Sophia Eggleston solicited and received kickbacks in exchange for referring Medicare beneficiaries to serve as patients at a home health agency owned by her co-conspirators.
