10/9/18: Three Boston hospitals agreed to pay nearly $1 million to settle allegations of HIPAA violations. That in it wouldn’t be news – but the violations occurred because the hospitals allowed TV crews to film patients for a television production. Given that everyone has a cell phone with a camera, it’s probably worthwhile to consider how a quick, unauthorized snapshot of a famous patient could create a HIPAA problem.
