12/3/18: An article by Pamela Wolf, J.D., on Wolters Kluwer website covers the case of a former employee of Teva Pharmaceuticals who alleged that he was subjected to retaliation for his complaints about discrimination based on age and national origin.
The case, filed in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, went to jury trial, with the jury finding in the employee’s favor. The jury awarded the employee more than $1.6 million in back and front pay, emotional distress and damages – along with $5 million in punitive damages. The cases offers some perspective of what may be a growing issue of age discrimination and, interestingly, national original in an increasingly global workplace.
