"Whew! SEC Isn't Targeting CCO's"

8/4/15: Chief Compliance Officers haven’t disappeared completely from the watchful eye of US enforcement agencies but they aren’t the target of the US Securities and Exchange Commission. At least that’s the expressed statement of SEC officials including SEC Chairman Mary Jo White explained at a recent...outreach program hosted by the SEC. The Chairman said, “To be clear, it is not our intention to use our enforcement program to target compliance professionals.” She then continued to give balance with her initial statement saying, “That being said, we must, of course, take enforcement action against compliance professionals if we see significant misconduct or failures by them.”
