"What Makes an Organization Corrupt?"

7/15/15: The characteristics of an ethical organization have been covered in many different formats but only occasionally is there an article about the characteristics of a corrupt corporate culture. On the Global Anticorruption Blog, guest poster Alison Taylor, Director of Advisory Services for the global non-profit BSR offers...exactly that in an article entitled, “The Characteristics of Corrupt Cultures.” She lists a number of risky characteristics that might point to a corrupt culture. Among them:  a focus on short-term targets, a belief that the ends justify the means, leaders who employ “selective blindness” and “… complex organizational systems that diffuse individual accountability and create fiefdoms.” She puts some real meat on those bones and adds a few others to create an insightful heads-up for company leaders and compliance officers.
