The US Securities and Exchange Commission made that clear when it awarded $300,000 to a whistleblower with audit and compliance responsibilities. In this case, the whistleblower had alerted all the appropriate personnel in his company about possible...wrongdoing. When the company failed to take any action, the employee reported the information to the SEC, which led to very quick action.
