Bribery: The Giver and the Taker

1/2/19: Offering or giving a bribe is a crime under all anti-bribery laws but taking bribes, including under the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) is not.  

AIn a post on The FCPA Blog, Tom Firestone (Partner at Baker McKenzie) and Maria Piontkovska (an Associate with Baker McKenzie) argue that the gap in the FCPA “… which hampers U.S. efforts to combat international corruption, could be filled by amending the basic domestic bribe receiving statute, 18 USC 201(b)(2), to cover foreign public officials.” The post is a thoughtful look at the pros and cons of making bribe takers accountable.
